HORNSBY - KU-RING-GAI BRANCH IS OFFICIALLY OPERATIONAL

On Wednesday, 15 March, 2017, StreetWork launched the Hornsby - Ku-ring-gai branch surrounded by local businesses, local members and supporters.  StreetWork’s newest Local Advisory Committee (LAC) was introduced to the Ku-ring-gai community by Board Chairperson, Lloyd Wilkins and LAC Co-Chairperson, Youth Worker and local advocate, Lucy Dahill.

Lucy Dahill, a dominant Ku-ring-gai community figure, spoke proudly about the work she and her fellow Youth Work colleagues actively seek to achieve with their clients. Lucy asked community members to support as a Founding Partner for the newest branch to ensure they reach their ongoing objectives.

“Our mission is ambitious but simple” says Youth Worker, Lucy Dahill. “By 2020, StreetWork’s Hornsby - Ku-ring-gai LAC wants every vulnerable young person in our community to be supported when struggling with family conflict, drugs and alcohol problems and mental health issues.”

“StreetWork is very grateful to be part of the Hornsby -Ku-ring-gai community. We are passionate and eager to work with the local youth community, to turn young lives around and support their futures.” Says Board Chairperson, Lloyd Wilkins.

This LAC has recently established a new office in the Hornsby - Ku-ring-gai – Branch and engaged additional Youth Worker to offer more comprehensive positive role modelling, mentoring, justice advocacy and practical support to ‘at risk’ young people living in the Hornsby - Ku-ring-gai area to support them to turn their lives around

StreetWork youth workers will soon work out of the Hornsby PCYC once it’s completed.

This need has been determined through extensive data analysis and in conjunction with StreetWork’s extensive service network which includes NSW Police, Juvenile Justice, Department of Education & Training, Family and Community Services, TAFE NSW, local councils, schools, other youth-support organisations and by engaging with young people who we meet through our Outreach activities.
