Our Team
Amber Davies, Team Leader
Amber has a background in psychology with nine years of experience working with young people.
She comes to us from the US, after having spent time with various non-profit agencies in the US and South Africa.
She has worked in group homes, a juvenile detention centre, and with a diversion program at various police departments implementing community service programs for youth who had been arrested.
She has a Master of Social Work degree, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California.
She most recently worked as a Social Worker counselling adolescent mothers, and loves helping others reach their full potential. She is very excited to lead the StreetWork Team.
Nancy Malik, Coordinator
Nancy has a background in design but has been working with young people for over six years now.
She has worked in community youth centres and in a juvenile detention centre. Nancy started volunteering with StreetWork at the start of 2006 and began full time work with us that November.
Nancy coordinates the StreetWork office, has a caseload of clients and uses her creative background to contribute to StreetWork's marketing and promotional material.
She also enjoys fostering creativity in young people and runs our Aerosol Art program.
Penny Dalgleish, Youth Case Worker
Penny has a background in theatre and psychology and has been involved in working with young people for over 10 years.
Before joining StreetWork, Penny was working with the Disability Employment Network.
She coordinates the Kickstart Mentoring Program.
Penny is passionate about getting young people involved in creative arts, helping them find work and thinks teenagers are awesome because they tell it how it is!
Richard Eifler, Casual Youth Case Volunteer
Richard is a senior Case Manager based on the Central Coast with Life Without Barriers and has served in StreetWork for many years.
He has worked with numerous youth organisations including Youth off the Streets, YouthWorks right across New South Wales.
He's keen to get beside young people in their time of need and be a positive role model and mentor for them. Richard believes, "little changes have an epic effect in the future of our young people".
Tim Sheerman, Youth Case Worker
Tim is a musician whose background includes expertise in detailed joinery, building and construction.
He has worked with young people as a mentor, volunteer and pastor for more than 10 years both here in Australia and is currently working with youth internationally whilst on assignment in California.
Tim loves young people, believes each one is amazing and champions youth towards living out their potential.
Derek O'Callaghan, Youth Case Worker
Derek volunteered with StreetWork for 2 years before becoming a part of the team.
He owns his own business, with certification as an arborist and carpenter. He also holds a certificate in Mentoring, as well as a Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology.
Derek was born in New Zealand, and has been in Australia for 22 years. He volunteers with the Pacific Island and Maori Work on the Street.
He coordinates the Street Stylz Hip-Hop Dance Class at Warringah Mall.
Derek states that he loves supporting young people through this important time in their life. "I love being a mentor to the next generation, walking side by side, so each individual feels valued, loved, and appreciated," he says. "A smile says it all. We need to capture that moment with everyone we meet."
Charles Knox, Youth Case Worker
Charles has a background in the Army, and volunteered for Streetwork for 4 years before becoming part of the team recently.
He has also been a self-defence instructor for many years, and has been a common sight on the streets of Chatswood and Hornsby.
Charles does outreach, meeting young people wherever they are, and aiming to be there, "no matter how grim it gets".
Charles is very keen to teach people self-defence, and aims to encourage awareness, self-confidence and responsibility through that medium. He is also a keen debater, and loves a spirited discussion over a coffee or six (or in his case, tea).
Alistair Webster, Youth Case Worker
Alistair has an array of experience in Youth Work and Mentoring. His past educational qualifications include a Certificate IV in Youth Work and a Bachelor of Social Science.
Over the past 3 years he has been working at several youth centres across Sydney’s Upper North Shore including Chatswood and Gordon Youth Centres.
Additionally, he has been involved in various volunteer work, significantly, a pilgrimage to Kolkata, India, where he was appointed as a ‘Peer Support Leader’ with a group of High School students from across Australia. His hobbies include a strong interest in cycling and outdoor activities and travelling.
He has come to StreetWork as he likes to help others and provide support for those in need and wants to be a ‘Man for Others’.
Andrew Crawford, Chief Executive Officer
Andrew has an extensive background in executive roles in both multinational associations and not for profit organisations.
He is a director for several companies, Nomination Committees as well as Chairman of the CSA Risk Discussion Group.
Since returning to Australia, Andrew has worked for those in need in our community including an active supporter of many vital charities and those employing organisations for people with disabilities.
