We're excited to announce that we've secured the iconic Pier 2/3 in Sydney's Walsh Bay precinct for our event. It's a rare opportunity to get inside one of our most characterful historic spaces, which only opens a couple of times a year for events. It's Sydney’s last wharf shed in its original state.
Get ready to rock with The Church front-man Steve Kilbey - Steve Kilbey is the enigmatic lead singer of legendary ARIA Hall of Fame band, The Church. He forged a unique and memorable stream of music including the Church’s signature tune, Under The Milky Way, along with classics like Unguarded Moment, Almost With You and Metropolis. Steve has found a free night to entertain us before heading off on a 29 city tour of the USA. He will be supported by Miranda Carey and an all star band of seasoned session musicians.
Maurice Parker - Master of Ceremony - From his days as a teenage reporter & double Gold Logie winner on “Simon Townsend’s Wonder World”, Maurice Parker has worked for over 30 years in the Australian TV industry. As an entertainment reporter in Australia and LA, Maurice has interviewed many of the iconic names in music history, including George Harrison, Grace Jones, Michael Hutchence and Tom Cruise throughout the glamour days of the 80’s and 90’s. He’s partied with Bon Jovi & Bob Dylan, ice-skated with Michael Bublé and dated a Bond Girl. When not tied up with his various TV projects, Maurice moonlights as an MC and just the guy to lead our big evening.
Glam n Grunge is not your average "do". In keeping with the gritty environment in which we work, we throw our annual fundraiser dinner in cool pop-up venue - in garages, in factory warehouses or in basement carparks. Add to this 'alternative' venue, top drawer catering, a selection of fine wines and leading entertainers. The focus is on fun not speeches and our aim is to raise money for 'at risk' young people. For "Glamour and Grunge"... think tux and thongs or ball gowns with Dr Martens. Or maybe he's grunge and you're glam.
