Streetwork provides three main services to young people.
1. Outreach Services
2. Diversional Programs
2. Kickstart - Youth Mentoring

Outreach Services
  • Street Outreach - hanging out in the community, being a presence, being available to young people that would like help with anything. You can find us on the street during the day and later at night on Thursdays.
  • Juvenile Advocacy - attending local police stations, when a young person has been arrested and they need a support person. You can call us if you find yourself arrested on suspicion of criminal activity.
  • Crisis and Welfare Response - the team are on-call to respond to crisis, for example if a young person needs accomodation or is feeling suicidal.

This service is available to young people on the Lower North Shore and the Northern Beaches, so if you need our help please call us on 9419 7559.

Diversional Programs
  • KAAP - Kickstart Aersol Art Program is a spray painting workshop held at Streetwork every Wednesday afternoon at 3pm. It is aimed at encouraging young people to dewvelope their artisitic skills and divert from illegal graffiti.
  • Gym Sessions - Weekly workout sessions sponsored by willoughby Leisure Centre.
  • SDOE - Street Duke of Edinburg, currently running at The Beach School, also open to individuals.

Kickstart - A youth mentoring program.
Kickstart is an ongoing support program where you get to meet up regularly with one of our youth workers as your mentor. This is an opportunity for you if you feel you'd like to kickstart your life.

If you're bored or have no idea what you want from life, or if you know exactly what you want but would like some help to get there, then this is for you. If you'd like to discover your strengths, figure out what you're really good at, and get a fresh look at your options, then this is also for you.

You can meet up with one of our youth workers and have a chat about where you're at and how we can help. If you're still interested, we'll make up a plan that you're happy with and go from there.

Kickstart also gives you access to our camps and programs such as the 351 Hip Hop Camp in January and our September Snow Camp.

To find out more, or to let us know that you might be interested call us on 9419 7559. We look forward to catching up with you!

The story of the Youth Services Van...

Over the past few months a transformation has been taking place at StreetWork, only this time it hasn't been with one of our young people. We were lucky enough last year to be given a very reliable, but ugly, Nissan Urvan. During a meeting in June the idea was thrown out to the team by Scott that we could copy the idea of a very popular American TV show called 'Pimp My Ride' by asking local businesses whether they would like to be involved in transforming the old van into a hot looking machine for StreetWork to use for its youth work. The idea was that if the bus looked really good it would be a great advertisement for our service. We hoped it would be really noticeable to the young people we aim to work with and also to the community at large so that it might increase our local support.

We were blown away at the support we have received and would like to thank the numerous businesses that have dug deep and come together to transform the van. The following have contributed to the project and as you will see from the photos (and hopefully from seeing it around the neighborhood) the results speak for themselves...
