Where does your money go?
Rest assured, your money will be well spent.
Of funds received, 96% goes on active service amongst the youth of the North Shore and Northern Beaches. The balance covers our administrative costs, which we strive to make as minimal as possible.
We are also blessed with having a fantastic group of volunteers.
Your gift to StreetWork will help us provide for a wide range of services.
- A regular presence in schools, streets and shopping malls where young people meet.
- Emergency food packages and help.
- 24/7 Police advocacy services where we attend the police station whenever one of our young people is arrested and offer help.
- Court support services where a young offender is often referred to StreetWork for remedial help.
- Anger management, drug and alcohol management.
- Kickstart, a one-on-one mentoring program providing regular meetings, encouraging positive choices, setting healthy goals and celebrating achievements.
- An innovative, street-based, application of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
- Life and job-seeking courses.
- Community service opportunities for young people.
- Camps for time away from negative influences.
- Parent support groups.
In 2009, we provided over 1,300 acts of youth support.
Primarily reliant on donations, our annual running costs are more than $400,000; supporting one youth at risk costs more than $3,600 for 12 months.
Two thirds of the youth we help are male, half are aged under 16, half are multi-cultural and three-quarters are from broken homes.
"StreetWork has assisted in the rehabilitation of many young offenders, keeping them in the community and away from full-time custody."
Ian Stayt, Officer, NSW Department of Juvenile Justice.
