yOUTH CASE WORKER (full time)
Advised 3/7/25
Streetwork employs a range of approaches and resources tailored to the individual to foster rapport and connection. The Youth Case Worker provides engagement and empowerment activities for vulnerable young people (aged 12-18 years) in the community. Their objective is to help marginalised and isolated young people by redirecting them through positive mentoring and practical support with the aim of linking them to the specialist youth services and agencies.
The Youth Case Worker will develop a goal plan with the young person, consisting of various activities to motivate them toward positive change, helping them build their independence. Activities include a balance of recreational experiences and meetings with specialist youth services that can best tackle each of their needs and areas of risk. The aim is for the young person to learn healthy ways to manage and address these independently into the future.
Streetwork’s Approach to Supporting Vulnerable Young People has two components:
Youth Workers are responsible for organising activities to engage youth and facilitate personal development through fun and motivational activities; and
Youth Case Workers work with the Youth Workers to help young people in difficult situations by focusing on building relationships, identifying needs, and helping young people access resources and specialist youth services to turn their lives around.
Kickstart Mentoring Program
The Youth Case Worker meets with their assigned young person in the community that is comfortable for them and relevant to their goal. The YCW and young person share food and refreshments to ensure that the young person is supported and ready for the activities planned for the session.
The Young Person
An eligible Streetwork client is a young person at risk of homelessness, school disengagement and/or harm related to drug use, mental health, at risk of suicide or self-harm. Our young people are often from backgrounds of family breakdown, neglect, abuse, trauma, or are involved in the youth justice system.
The Journey
The Youth Case Worker creates a goal plan with the young person. This plan includes tasks and activities that will involve both of them in the young persons’ growth and positive change. The tasks will aim to create incremental growth toward independence. The tone should be a clear balance between fun, rapport building activities and a focus on the young person’s specific needs. Interactions should be engaging to help motivate the young person to link to specialised youth services and agencies relevant to their needs.

OUTREACH yOUTH WORKER (casual)
Advised 3/7/25
Streetwork applies a range of approaches and resources relevant to the individual to build rapport and connection. The Outreach Youth Worker is a support role that provides engagement and empowerment activities for vulnerable young people (aged 12-18 years) in the community. Their objective is to help marginalised and isolated young people by redirecting them through positive mentoring and practical support with the aim of linking them to the specialist youth services and agencies.
