Strategic Partnerships Manager

The Strategic Partnerships Manager is responsible for securing new funding by identifying, cultivating, and managing strategic partnerships across corporate, government, youth services and philanthropic sectors in collaboration with the CEO. These partnerships enable Streetwork Australia to build greater capacity to turn more young lives around.

Role Accountabilities include:

  • Develop and implement a partnership strategy and plan for Streetwork, spanning corporate, government, youth services, and philanthropic sectors.

  • Build upon existing partnerships and source and secure appropriate new relationships to unlock significant new and sustainable sources of funding.

  • Actively manage and maintain long-term mutually beneficial strategic partnerships.

  • Leverage existing activities and collaborate to create relevant and mutually beneficial outcomes for partners.

  • Manage and report on the progress of the pipeline of opportunities and relationship status.

  • Work with colleagues as part of the overall Streetwork fundraising strategy.

  • Apply Streetwork standards and methods.

Key Requirements – Professional

Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in strategic partnerships, fundraising, or business development, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.

  • Proven corporate partnership experience, including sponsorships, workplace giving, skilled volunteering and achieving revenue targets.

  • Demonstrated understanding of government and government agency processes, with respect to recurrent funding

  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing revenue diversification strategies, specifically in the areas of corporates, government and philanthropy.

Sector Knowledge and Contacts (Preferred)

  • Familiarity with corporate, government, and philanthropic funding sources and trends, particularly in the areas of social and/or youth services. 

  • An established network of viable contacts in the above sectors.

 Qualifications

  • Tertiary and other qualifications in a relevant discipline.

Skills

  • Business Development: Strong negotiation and business development skills with demonstrated achievements in identifying new funding avenues, winning new business and nurturing key relationships.

  • Relationship Management: Demonstrated capability in proactively and strategically managing and growing new relationships and portfolios.

  • Operational Effectiveness: Planning and executing tasks, effectively adapting to changing needs and monitoring progress and risk.

  • Commercial Astuteness: Good business instinct and acumen and the ability to use this in a variety of situations.

  • o   Political awareness: Demonstrated understanding of government and bureaucratic systems and processes

  • Data Analysis: Proven ability to analyse data and market trends to inform strategic decisions.

  • Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, CRM (e-Tapestry) software, and key stakeholder optimisation tools.

  • Emotional intelligence:  Self-aware and able to effectively manage emotions in self and others with an ability to motivate individuals and groups.  Confident in own abilities and compassionate and responsive to changing circumstances.

  • Relationship oriented:  Demonstrated ability to confidently build, manage, and grow mutually beneficial relationships with external stakeholders and partners.

  • Communication Skills:  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance is assessed by three measures:

  • Feedback from partners/potential partners

  • Feedback from Streetwork colleagues

  • Financial targets (linked to incentive payments)

Specific Key Performance Indicators are set and reviewed annually and have an incentive bonus attached. These KPIs will broadly be linked to the ability to secure new or expand existing funding from three sources:

  • Corporate partnerships: Including the development of deep partnerships, sponsorship opportunities, employee engagement activity and corporate participation at Streetwork events.

  • Government partnerships:  Heavily focused on ensuring that we secure long-term recurrent funding for all or part of the services we offer

  • Philanthropic partnerships:  Opening up all of the above opportunities to established and new philanthropic partners to facilitate greater collaboration and knowledge-sharing, to drive more recurrent funding opportunities with them.
